Field note · Minnesota stocks by year, not by truck day: walleye fry go in within weeks of ice-out, fingerlings and yearlings mostly in fall, and stream trout in spring and fall. A row here means the fish went in during that year; DNR adds the year's rows after the fact, so the current year can look empty until winter.

Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

Clear Lake is a 65-acre lake located in the town of Russell in Lyon County. Clear Lake has a maximum depth of 10 ft. and a watershed to lake ratio of 6 to 1, which is small considering the topographic setting. Clear Lake is managed primarily for Walleye and secondarily for Yellow Perch and Northern Pike. A targeted survey was on October 8, 2025 to determine if Walleye fingerlings, yearlings, and adults would need to be stocked in the fall of 2025. Duration of sampling was very short (4 minutes) and age-0 Walleye were captured at a rate of 56.5 per hour and Walleye age-1 or older were captured at a rate of 207.3 per hour during daytime electrofishing. Length of Walleye fingerlings ranged from 6.2 to 6.7 inches and averaged 6.4 inches. Length of age-1 and older Walleye ranged from 9.3 to 13.7 inches and averaged 10.2 inches. It took minimal time sampling to conclude that Walleye of multiple sizes are readily available in Clear Lake. Essentially there are plenty of Walleye for anglers to catch and likely will provide some great fishing in the near future.
