Minnesota stocking report
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) · data as of 2026-09-02 · history
- Minnesota rows are DNR's annual per-lake stocking records from LakeFinder (2016-2025): year, species, size class, number and pounds - a history, not a schedule.
- 2,517 Minnesota lakes have a page here; 1,954 of them carry a DNR depth-contour map, and most carry the DNR lake survey (species, catch rates) and public access list.

Minnesota stocking questions
Does Minnesota announce trout stockings in advance?
Not here. Minnesota DNR records stockings by year on each lake's LakeFinder page (species, size class, number and pounds), and the year's rows appear after the fish are in. Use these pages for a lake's long-term pattern and its depth, access and survey data; DNR's own LakeFinder is the word on regulations.
When does Minnesota stock trout?
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) posts on this cadence: annual per-lake records - DNR posts each year's stockings to LakeFinder after the fact. Season: history only; walleye fry go in April-May, fingerlings in fall, trout mostly spring and fall.
How soon after a stocking is the fishing good?
Most anglers do best from a day or two after the plant through the following two or three weeks. Fresh fish hold near the release point at first, then spread out and start feeding more naturally. There is more on this in our guide to fishing after a stocking.
Where does this data come from?
Directly from Minnesota DNR LakeFinder stocking reports and lake surveys - the agency's own posting. We link the official page and publish the same rows as CSV.
How current is this page?
It rebuilds daily; this copy reflects the source as of 2026-09-02.
