Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

Crosby Lake lies in the Mississippi River floodplain and is occasionally flooded by the river during high water periods. The surrounding property is a City of Saint Paul park (Crosby Farm Park). Shorefishing is available at many locations and carry-in access is also available (electric motor only). Summertime vegetation becomes thick and may interfere with angling. Black Bullhead was the most abundant fish sampled in 2014. These fish are above average in size and ranged from 5 to almost 13 inches. Bluegill were found in below average size and below average abundance. Bluegill lengths ranged from 3.23 inches to 6.81 inches with an average fish measuring 5.21 inches. White Crappie were sampled in high numbers but are small, averaging slightly more than 5 inches in length. Northern Pike were sampled in less than average numbers for lakes like Crosby and had an average length of only 14 inches, with a range from 9 to 18 inches. Hybrid Sunfish, Yellow Perch, Yellow Bullhead, Largemouth Bass, Bowfin, Common Carp and Golden Shiner were sampled in low abundance and were below average in size.
