Glacier Pond Two is a 6.5-acre designated stream trout lake located 13 miles east of Ely in the Superior National Forest. It is comparable to other small stream trout lakes in the Tower Area like Dan, Norberg, and Regenbogen. The lake was surveyed during Spring, as is typical for some of the stream trout lakes in the Tower Area. Due to the early Spring sampling and expected lack of poor water conditions, temperature and dissolved oxygen were not measured during the survey. Previous checks have found sufficient year-round habitat. The lake has clear water, with a historic mean Secchi visibility of 17 feet, and a maximum depth of 32 feet. Access is by a short carry down 50 yards beyond a locked gate from a small parking area and is best suited to canoes. It is located on U.S. Forest Service land and is public. Parking is limited to a couple of vehicles and trailers are not recommended. A small, USFS-maintained campsite exists on the north side of the lake and is a decent shore fishing option. Summer Home Road is not plowed beyond the gravel pit in the winter and extends the trail to the lake by half a mile. Brook trout numbers (4.5/net) were above the lake average of 3.3/net. Lengths ranged from 4 to almost 17 inches and average length was 7 inches. Most of the catch was comprised of fingerlings stocked the previous fall, with two carryover fish from earlier events. Brook trout yearlings are annually stocked in the spring.
