Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

Goose Lake is a 75 acre class 40 lake located in northern Washington County primarily managed for Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Bluegill. Largemouth Bass were sampled during daytime electrofishing on May 17, 2016. Abundance was high, with 148 Largemouth Bass sampled per hour. Sampled bass ranged from 3" to 21", suggesting many year classes are likely present. High numbers of medium sized bass were present, along with several very large individuals. Over 70% of bass sampled were greater than 12", and 11% were greater than 15". Northern Pike were sampled at a rate of 10.5 fish per gill net, which is above average for class 40 lakes and a significant increase from the 2010 survey catch of 3 per gill net. This was the highest catch rate of Northern Pike since 1999 when 15 pike per gill net were sampled. Northern Pike sampled during this survey ranged from 18" to 42". Over 58% of Northern Pike sampled were greater than 21" in length, and 24% were greater than 25". Bluegill catch rate was 18.86 per trap net, above average for class 40 lakes and 37% of the Bluegills sampled were greater than 7" in length. Black Crappie CPUE was 3.43 fish per trap net, below average for class 40 lakes, and 35% of sampled crappies were greater than 9" in length.
