Field note · Minnesota stocks by year, not by truck day: walleye fry go in within weeks of ice-out, fingerlings and yearlings mostly in fall, and stream trout in spring and fall. A row here means the fish went in during that year; DNR adds the year's rows after the fact, so the current year can look empty until winter.

CAPRIGravel access best suited for carry in watercraft, boulders on either side of the access prevent use by most trailered boats. Access is privately owned, but Lake County holds an easement ensuring public access to the lake at that location.

Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

Hare Lake is a 48-acre lake located 16 miles northeast of Finland off Lake County Road 7. The public access is located at the southeast corner of the lake on a county easement across private land and is suitable for small watercraft. Walleye were first introduced in 2017 and have been stocked annually in an effort to establish a fishable population. A standard fisheries survey was completed in 2024 using gill nets to evaluate the effectiveness of stocking and determine if changes are needed to achieve the goals in the current management plan. Walleye catch was well above the normal range compared to similar lakes for the second consecutive survey. Size was poor with an average length of just 11.7 inches and few fish longer than 14 inches captured. Results of this survey indicate excellent survival of stocked Walleye, which has created an overabundant population with poor growth due to competition. Stocking plans will be adjusted to decrease the density of stocked fish while maintaining angling opportunities.
