Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

A survey of near shore fish species was conducted on Limestone Lake from July 19th - 21st, 2017by the Sauk Rapids Area Fisheries Office. Ten sampling sites were evenly spaced around the shoreline and each site was sampled by backpack electrofishing and seining, except seven sites where deep water or dense vegetation prevented the use of a seine. Nearshore sampling captured 21 species of fish, including four species that are intolerant of shoreline disturbance and/or poor water quality (Banded Killifish, Blackchin Shiner, Least Darter, and Iowa Darter). The near shore fish survey data will be combined with gill net and trap net data from the 2017 summer survey to describe the fish community and provide a fish based Index of Biotic Integrity (FIBI) score based on expectations for similar lakes. This survey is contributing to a watershed assessment process in coordination with the MN Pollution Control Agency. Limestone Lake is located in the Mississippi River - St. Cloud Watershed.
