Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.
BASED ON THEIR RESPECTIVE LOCAL MEDIANS, THE PRESENT FISH POPULATION OF MORA LAKE IS AS FOLLOWS THE NORTHERN PIKE WAS HIGH AT 9.25 PER GILLNET SET WITH A MEDIAN LENGTH OF 18.0-18.9 INCHES AND A MEAN WEIGHT OF 1.53 PDS. THE BLACK CRAPPIE WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE THE LOCAL MEDIAN AT 22.00 FISH PER TRAPNET SET AND OF SMALL SIZE. LENGHS RANGED FROM 5.0 TO 7.4 INCHES WITH A MEDIAN LENGTH OF 6.0 -6.4 INCHES. THE PUMPKINSEED SUNFISH WAS SLIGHTLY LOW AT 3.00 PER SET AND OF SMALL SIZE. MEDIAN LENGTH WAS 4.5 - 4.9 INCHES. GROWTH RATE FOR THE NORTHERN PIKE, BLACK CRAPPIE AND PUMPKINSEED WAS AVG AT ALL ANNULUS FORMATIONS. THE YELLOW PERCH WAS SLIGHTLY LOW AT 15.75 PER GILLNET SET AND OF SMALL AVG SIZE, 5.5-5.9 INCHES. THE WHITE SUCKER WAS HIGH AT 4.00 PER SET WHILE THE GOLDEN SHINER WAS VERY LOW AT 0.25 PER SET. THE BLACK BULLHEAD WAS NEAR THE LOCAL MEDIAN AT 22.25 PER SET AND 91% OF THE FISH MEASURED (88) WERE UNDER 6 INCHES IN LENGTH. AGING DATA FOR NORTHERN PIKE WILL NOT MATCH 1985 STOCKING OF WINTER RESCUE FISH POSSIBLY DUE TO (1) SIZE OF FISH STOCKED (1.7) PD AVG) AND (2) FALSE ANNULUS FORMATION FROM STRESS FACTOR OF DISTRIBUTION. ADULT BLUEGILL SUNFISH WERE ABSENT IN THE NET CATCHES BUT NATURAL REPRODUCTION WAS CONFIRMED IN THE SHORELINE SEIN- ING. ALL NETTING DATA INDICATES THE LARGEMOUTH BASS HAS NEVER BEEN PRESENT IN LAKE MORA.
