DNR fish survey, 2022
Pleasant Lake is a designated stream trout lake that is managed for Brook Trout. The dissolved oxygen and temperature profiles were measured in August 2022 to monitor habitat for trout. Optimal thermal and oxygen conditions for Brook Trout (10-16°C [50-61°F] and greater than or equal to 5 ppm DO) occurred in about 6 vertical ft. Oxygen adequate for trout (greater than 5 ppm) occurred down to a depth of 29 ft where the temperature was 7.0°C (44.6°F). Temperature at a dissolved oxygen concentration of 3 ppm (TDO3) was 6.3°C (43.3°F). Pleasant Lake had the greatest amount (in vertical distance) of optimal trout habitat and the lowest TDO3 value compared to the other five natural (non-mine pit) stream trout lakes in the Brainerd Fisheries management area in 2022. Future stocking plans are for continued annual stockings of 3,300 Brook Trout fingerlings in the fall with surplus yearling or adult Brook Trout stocked when available. Designated stream trout lakes have additional angling regulations. Be sure to consult the current Minnesota Fishing Regulations book for regulations, seasons, and possession limits before fishing designated trout waters. The winter trout season is closed on Pleasant Lake.
