Field note · Minnesota stocks by year, not by truck day: walleye fry go in within weeks of ice-out, fingerlings and yearlings mostly in fall, and stream trout in spring and fall. A row here means the fish went in during that year; DNR adds the year's rows after the fact, so the current year can look empty until winter.

Powderhorn Lake is a 12-acre Class 40 lake located within Powderhorn Park in the City of Minneapolis. Powderhorn Lake was managed as a Kids Fishing Pond and regularly stocked with adult Bluegill and Black Crappie beginning in 1980. Since 2001, Powderhorn Lake has been managed by the Fishing in the Neighborhood (FiN) program, and has received annual stockings of adult Bluegill and occasional stockings of Black Crappie and Largemouth Bass. Adult Channel Catfish have been stocked since 2004. During the 2016 survey, Black Bullhead was the most abundant species sampled. Bluegill abundance was above average for this lake class and several of the Bluegills sampled were larger than nine inches. Channel Catfish was the most abundant predator species sampled in Powderhorn Lake. Lengths of Channel Catfish ranged from 3.1-20.6 inches with an average length of 16.6 inches. Other fishes captured during the survey were Goldfish, hybrid sunfish, and Pumpkinseed sunfish. Powderhorn Park has many amenities in addition to the lake. The park is a great place to spend a day fishing, swimming in the pool, and visiting the Powderhorn Community Center. In the winter, an ice skating rink is maintained on the lake. On National Get Outdoors Day, which is usually the second or third Saturday in June, Powderhorn Park holds a free event that welcomes children and families to participate in outdoor events such as canoeing, fishing, birding, archery, mountain biking, and rock climbing.
