Field note · Minnesota stocks by year, not by truck day: walleye fry go in within weeks of ice-out, fingerlings and yearlings mostly in fall, and stream trout in spring and fall. A row here means the fish went in during that year; DNR adds the year's rows after the fact, so the current year can look empty until winter.

Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

Round lake is in class 38 of the MN DNR lake classification system. Other area lakes included in this class are: Block, Buchanan, Elbow, and Sand. Northern pike were not represented in the gill net sample. Pike gill net CPUE in the 1975 survey was 2.5 per net. Black bullhead abundance declined from 118.0 per gill net lift in 1975 to 11.0 per net, which is within the normal range for this lake class. Bluegill abundance increased from 26.0 per trap net lift in 1975 to 114.8 per net, which exceeds the normal range. Bluegill recruitment appears to be consistent and growth is average compared to statewide means. Largemouth bass abundance declined from 7.2 per trap net lift in 1975 to 0.6 per net, which is within the normal range. The yellow perch catch rate in 1975 was 94.0 per gill net lift. Yellow perch were not sampled in gill nets during this survey. Walleye abundance declined from 3.5 per gill net lift in 1975 to 0.5 per net, which is well below the normal range. The average weight of individual walleye declined from 4.1 pounds in 1975 to 0.6 pounds. The walleye sampled in this survey are most likely the result of limited natural reproduction as no DNR stocking has occurred since 1948.
