Catch per net (CPUE) is the DNR survey's count per gill net or trap net set; higher means more of that species were sampled, not a fishing forecast. Top species per gear shown; where we have no verified common name for a DNR code, the code itself is shown.

Wasserman is a 170-acre lake located in Carver County near the town of Victoria. There is a DNR-owned public access on the north side of the lake that has a concrete ramp with a dock and limited parking. Wasserman is managed for Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, and Bluegill. A Standard Survey was conducted in the summer of 2025 to assess the gamefish populations. Black Crappie were highly abundant in 2025, and about half of the fish were between 7.5 and 10.0 inches. There is good opportunity for crappie harvest on this lake both now and during the next few years as the fish grow. Bluegill were also present in high numbers, although only 13% of the sampled fish exceeded 7 inches. The largest Bluegill measured was 7.9 inches. Northern Pike abundance was down in 2025, however fish age 2 through 8 were present in the sample, which shows consistent reproduction. Northern Pike tend to be medium-sized in Wasserman, and a few larger fish were present in the 2025 survey. The fish ranged in size from 20.8 inches to 35.4 inches, with an average of 25.7 inches. Thirty-five percent of pike exceeded 26 inches in 2025. Although standard bass sampling was not conducted in 2025, Wasserman is known for its strong Largemouth Bass population. During the last bass survey, in 2016, the largest bass sampled was 20.5 inches and 27% of the catch exceeded 15 inches. In 2025, Largemouth Bass incidentally caught in gill nets and trap nets indicated that the population continues to support large fish. The largest bass encountered in 2025 was 18.8 inches and 5 of the 12 incidentally caught bass exceeded 15 inches. Overall, Wasserman supports strong populations of Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, and panfish. Other species sampled in this survey include Black Bullhead, Bowfin (dogfish), Brown Bullhead, Common Carp, Golden Shiner, Yellow Bullhead, Yellow Perch, and Pumpkinseed.
